The Night School Poets are an eclectic group made up of odd-bods, united by a common goal. A desire to write poetry. We met at the "Write an Anthology of Poetry in a Year", course in West Yorkshire. Ranging in age from thirteen to we'd rather not say, the nine regular participants were from all stages and walks of life. Some of us already had experience of writing our own poetry, for others it was their first fearful foray. By the end of the course we had produced original poems that we are proud of. This collection is a sample of our work. In celebration of the individualism and uniqueness of the personalities themselves, the poems reflect the many forms and genres that we explored on the course. They take inspiration from art, music, urbanism and landscape. They reflect themes and experiences that are pertinent and personal to each writer.
