The outcomes for children of addicts are bad enough, but for the ones from broken homes they are even worse. As I saw it I had a chance to narrow the odds for my childrenOs sake, by staying with my wife and making a damn good go of things. What I never expected, when setting out on this very difficult journey, was the total abandonment my family would suffer at the hands of the out-laws. My story is one of hope and sheer determination in the face of adversity. It definitely isnOt what I would recommend for everyone, and I will not know if my choice has been the right one for some time. Nevertheless, I have no regrets about trying.
