Sassie's New Home provides a narrative to help children cope with the death of a dog. Sassie is a loving and playful dog that is loved by Lanie and her family. When Sassie dies, Lanie's mom describes that since dogs are always SO happy to greet people here on earth, their job in heaven is to greet the people that arrive in heaven. In heaven, dog treats hang from trees, there are dog houses lined up in a row, and everyone is greeted by the wagging tail of an enthusiastic dog. Lanie learns about holding on to the memories of all of the good times that she spent with Sassie. The book also contains gorgeous illustrations depicting Lanie's memories of Sassie and what heaven looks like for dogs.
