Peppi was born on Wicky Wacky Farm. He was bred especially to be a racehorse. However, he did not look like a race horse, he was small, he had a big head and his ears turned out, not up. Plus he had a grey coat with dark spots all over. All the other foals and horses laughed at him. Donny and Lulu loved him even more because of this. When Peppi grew up, Wally, the children's father, no matter how hard he tried could not train Peppi to win races. "He has to be sold," said Wally, but Donny and Lulu cried and told Aunty Jane who lived next door. Aunty Jane came to the rescue and said she would try him out for the game of polo. Peppi seemed no good at polo until Aunty Jane's pet Kangaroo, Wilby offered to teach Peppi how to be a good polo pony.
