Nick Archer is a bush pilot for the Missionary Aviation Support Team when a boarding school in remote south-central Columbia is attacked. He escaped, but Terri Kaplan, the school nurse, is kidnapped along with two other staff members, one of whom is later killed while the other escapes. When Nick loses his vision from neglecting his eye problems at the very moment he has a chance to save Terri, he ends up flying blind.
