She never pictured herself as a stay-at-home mom, yet without a consistent job with benefits, it was the only option that made sense. Being at home with her 5-month old son all day, every day wasn't the fairy tale she imagined. Despite having someone with her 24/7, she never felt more alone. This mom ventures out into play dates, storytimes, and even online 'mommy dating' to find a mom friend that understands what she is going through and will make being a stay-at-home mom feel a little less isolating. While on a journey to find friends, she also struggles to find out who she is now, after becoming a mother. Some days she is so focused on being a wife and a mother that she even forgets her own name. On top of her other challenges, our main character is also battling depression. We follow her entire journey from being in denial that she's depressed, to acceptance, before she is finally able to make something good come from her depression. With a little self-reflection and one true friend, motherhood goes from a challenge that she's failing to the glimmer of hope that makes the rest of her life infinitely better.
