The Book of New Canticles offers persons who use Morning and Evening Prayer from the Book of Common Prayer additional canticles for those two prayer offices. This set of canticles was originally designed to be used as the first canticle of Morning Prayer when the Benedictus would be used as the second canticle. The person using The Book of Canticles can creatively use the canticles to suit their individual or communal form of prayer selecting the canticles in whatever pattern corresponds with their prayer. Some of the Canticles are taken from the Book of Common Prayer while the majority were taken from The Benedictine Thesaurus or from the Bible. These Canticles can greatly enhance a person or community's experience of prayer with unique biblical resources suited to the liturgical seasons and the celebration of the saints.
