There really was a Twinkle the mouse when I was a little girl. A friend gave him to me and I carried my new pet home in a shoe box. To my pleasant surprise, my mother said I could keep him. I named him Twinkle. I didn't have any food for him on his first night, so Twinkle dined on soggy cornflakes. He loved to run in and out of my fingers and sit and rest on my shoulder.
