Dr. Walter Grundmann, professor of Theology at the University of Jena, was a prolific author from the 1920's until his death in 1976 and many of his works remain the standard work on the subject. A student of biblical criticism he used this as a tool in his work in the good sense of the term to look at the history of the Faith from the time of Jesus through the early Church, and evidenced by the varying manuscripts of the Gospels and Epistles. In this work Dr. Grundmann shows the relationship that exists between the Epistle of Jude and that of Second Peter and that were both based upon the problems stemming from the infiltration of, as Paul points out, Jewish gnostic teachers who sought to undermine the Christian Faith through moral perversion. These gnostic teachings were further developed within Rabbinic Judaism into Kabbalism, and have been particularly espoused by the Frankists.
