It's 1942 and World War II rages on. Aster, a nineteen-year-old boy from New York, enlists into the Marine Corps after his parents are killed in a car crash. On his last night in the city, Aster finds himself in the local bar listening to the war over the radio. The war he will soon be in. Sitting at the bar, Aster meets a woman both mysterious and beautiful.
