Tommie Loves Doggie

SYNOPSIS: The 1960s was a tumultuous decade. Frequently it is characterized by the political and social upheavals that grabbed headlines during that ten year period. The decade also marked the coming of age of the first wave of baby boomers, which at that time could have been identified as the most privileged generation. In obscurity, many of these boomers attempted to understand their environment and how they fit in it. "Tommie Loves Doggie" is a tale of how several young people, under various circumstances, handled their personal development in a small town. The story focuses on a few weeks during one summer when a group, participating in a civic sponsored event, tours several neighboring states. The fears and struggles that the members of this generation experience resemble issues that have confounded other generations. However, the unique aspects of the boomers' feelings and sensitivities are threatened to be a lost chapter of Americana--overshadowed by the more dramatic events of that decade. "Tommie Loves Doggie" is heart-touching at moments while being comical in other instances as the story explores the innocence and idealism of youth. It is a poignant tribute to the struggles of attaining adulthood.
