Don't ask for street direction, or even the time of day . . . No doubt, the picture on the cover will shake up some youngsters. They need not be concerned. With our high-tech medical procedures, and superior antibiotics, they too may reach my age, and cold turn out looking more youthful. The day I turned ninety, I couldn't believe my good fortune to have survived infancy during a flu epidemic, teen-years in the Great Depression, and my manhood in a terrible war. (I don't dare bring up my 64 years of marred life to two wonderful women.) So, what does a person do on his ninetieth birthday, and please don't laugh? I took on the job of finishing a memoir I began writing when I turned eighty. Since life at my age is uncertain, one dares not temp fate.
