God Smiles When: Learning Virtues That Make God Smile

This is a simple little book that uses rhyme to teach children virtues and behaviors that are pleasing to God. I wrote the book to help show my son that actions, both good and bad, affect not just ourselves, but those around us. And that God smiles when we are a reflection of Him. The vision for the book came one day when, like every two year old, my son decided to test his boundaries and see just exactly what he could get away with. Needless to say, I spent the day saying one word..."NO." "No, don't throw the blocks;" "No, don't run the race cars into the wall;" "No don't do this;" "No, don't do that;" "No, don't tell ME no!" By the end of the day I threw my hands up in surrender. I asked God what I was doing wrong. I honestly didn't know if I could take another day of "NO, NO, NO!" Then God gently spoke and said, "Instead of just telling him 'no, ' explain why his actions are not acceptable." It was amazing! As much as I was trying to teach my son to be polite, kind, gentle, respectful, I never thought about teaching him why. Thus, the God Smiles When books and material were born. My son loves to read the God Smiles When Goodnight Book and explore the God Smiles When Bible Study. When he needs a gentle reminder regarding his behavior, we visit his God Smiles When Wall Chart. Yes, my son is a headstrong, independent, and spirited youngster. The God Smiles When materials have proven to be useful tools that have had a very positive affect. At first I thought God had given the words of encouragement and the words of the books for just my son and me, but I began to realize that God had bigger plans. I hope that this book and the other God Smiles When books and material are as helpful, fun, and encouraging to you, as they have been to me.
