Council of sheikhs: A Supervisory and Regulatory Institution in State-Religious Group Relations in the Ottomans

This study analyses the relationship between the sufi groups and the authorities in the Ottoman empire, focusing in the Contemporary Age and especially in the institution of the "Council of sheikhs" (majlis-i meshayih) to manage and control the tekke, from member's behavior to financial problems or rites conducted there.
