All the students filed out of class quickly, the teacher stood in the hall, yelling at them to walk and not run through the halls on their way to lockers and carpools. The few unlucky guys and girls in the back of the crowd of people pushing, and shoving to get to the front were made to wait in line by the teachers until the crowd thinned out a bit. While all this was going on, I made my way to the low bookcase in my class and bent over my open back pack digging around inside, making a show of looking for something. As the last person ran from the room, I made my move, I started shoving books into my bag to take home and read. Yes, I was stealing books, how pathetic right? I know, but I couldn't help myself, you see, I am a voracious reader with a non-existent budget for books. I'm an only child of a single, divorced mom. My mom works full time as a home healthcare nurse, she works a lot of overtime to take care of us. We are not poor exactly, but there is a definite shortage of funds. I was just pushing the last book into my bag when my teacher came up behind me and asked me what I was doing. She turned me around and took my bag from me.
