Every muscle in his body tensed the second he looked up and saw the flaming red eyes and glistening white fangs staring at him through the dark moonless night. He pushed his legs forward and managed to dislodge the black devil long enough to scramble to his feet. He drew his sword, then smiling he welcomed the fight. To kill the beast or die trying, he didn't care; either way an end would come.
