"WHO CARES WHO MILKS THE COW" is not about barnyard animals but is the story of a caring young woman and what happens to her after a tragic accident kills her abusive husband and sickly baby daughter. She takes on the job of caring for the baby son of another woman who also dies. The title comes from a strange remark made to her by a woman who happened along after it was over. Martha never did learn who the woman was or even if her presence and strange remark about her milking the cow was a figment of her imagination after the tragedy. After the accident she continues on her journey to find the father of the baby boy who survived his mother. Did she jump from the frying pan into the fire by instantly marrying the father of this little boy in order to keep him for herself.
