Journey to Womanhood: A Poetic Rite of Passage

"Journey to Womanhood" is a window into my soul. My poems and writings express the joy, excitement, anxiety and challenges of becoming a young woman. My poems are inspired by the events and people that have encouraged me to preserver. The people that have shared themselves, their wisdom and love, they give me strength when life gets tough. My journey to womanhood has been one of alchemy, constantly being broken down and simultaneously built up. Through traveling and meeting various people, I learned to accept my own flaws and see my imperfection as perfection. I am surely finding my place in the world and stepping into the woman I was born to be. As I acknowledge and heal past wounds I understand that everything is not meant to be understood but learned from. Womanhood with its great complexity reminds me that it is not a destination but a journey. Everyday something new is revealed to me and something else activated within me. I write this book as a gift to the ancestors for their tireless efforts to clear the path so that my journey is as fruitful as it is!
