This is a work of contemporary fiction; an adventure. Sam Winter lives in Mendocino, California with her parents. She has been invited out to Croatia for a short vacation by her pen friend, Tomislav Petrovic. Whilst sitting in a restaurant having refreshment, he overhears a conversation from a group of men at the next table; something about a bank robbery. As the group disperse, one of them drops a sheet of paper that turns out to be the plan of a bank building and details on how they plan to rob it. Sam and Tomislav take their evidence to the police. Arrests are made and as a result, Tomislav begins to receive threatening phone calls. One day whilst out on a picnic, their car is booby-trapped and Tom is killed in the explosion. Sam narrowly escapes with her life. Three years on, she's back in Croatia on vacation with a young friend, Josie Moore. Everything is going well until they run into Milos Dragovic. He is looking for photographs that he claims were taken of him and his 'friend' Tomislav, and he wants them badly. Those pictures can be had from Tomislav's PC but his mother wouldn't give Milos access to it. Maybe Sam and Josie would be able to persuade her. At the house, the two women find photos of Milos and Co on the hard drive, sitting at a table in the restaurant that day three years ago. Again, they attempt to take their evidence to the police, but before they can do this however, they are threatened by a gunman with a high-powered rifle and warned not to go near the police. They are told there will be a rendezvous point at which they will be met by the gang and they will hand over the photos. Sam and Josie have no intentions of meeting their demands and are determined that the only recipients of the pictures will be the police. From now on, they have to watch their backs and be careful where they go.
