Hence, a good understanding of the risk factors that can cause cancer and knowledge of how to prevent its onset will not only reduce the physical load, the suffering of patients and their families and costs to the cancer patient, but will also lend support to the health system by reducing costs associated with the high mortality and morbidity rates that are currently seen in relation to cancer. A further objective of this educational manual is to improve the communication between doctors and patients. Better-informed patients are able to voice their questions and concerns better, and in this way they will have greater control over the disease.
