Inside Voices : 9781482029802

Lena is numb. She's shut her family out, her marriage is on life support and her father's death is imminent. She should be falling apart, but instead there is only this unnatural emptiness. She's watching her world dissolve around her; a bored spectator until the woman catches her eye, a brief but beautiful distraction. Unfortunately, the haunting redhead has a knack for appearing in the most vulnerable moments. It's only a matter of time... Lena is trapped. Plied into consent in a moment of weakness, she finds herself held in a private mental hospital for women. Enraged with the captivity, terrified by the violent and disturbed pasts of her housemates - she must escape. As the days and the failed attempts to flee mount though, she finds herself pulled deeper into the web that weaves these inmates together. It's hard to avoid the junkie and the martyr living out life sentences for mistakes made long ago. It's even harder to forget the disfigured woman writhing in pain upstairs. But it is impossible to ignore Farrah, the formidable beauty who makes the rules. Lena is obsessed. The fiery warden is shocking and relentless in her command, but under the cruelty there's a smoldering passion that cannot be ignored. The voice in Lena's head, once shouting objections, is being smothered under the weight of this seduction. Farrah's love is ecstasy, but it comes with a price. At the edge of the cliff; Lena will have to decide just what she's willing to sacrifice to remain in her keeper's embrace. When logic and reason fail, and the consuming heat is all she can feel - can Lena triumph over the enemy of her own desire? Lena is afraid... Inside Voices is an intense and jarring journey following one woman's choice to become a party to her own abuduction and imprisonment. Violent, erotic and heartbreaking; Lena's desire to give in is equally relatable and baffling.
