Bill Strippoli was born on Father's Day, June 15, 1952 in Camden, New Jersey. He was the third child of hardworking, middle-class, Italian-American, and Catholic parents. Bill had a stellar, thirty-three year career as a health care and university administrator, including eight years as Associate Dean for Administration and Faculty Affairs at the University of Southern California (USC) School of Medicine. Throughout his award-winning career, Bill had taught more than 12,000 students. Despite several laudable personal and career achievements, Bill never felt worthy because he was ashamed of being gay. He truthfully depicts his journey as a gay man who struggled to overcome sexual molestation by three different adult males (including two priests), two suicide attempts when he was fourteen years old, and a lifetime of bullying. Bill describes how his journey toward self-acceptance was constantly derailed by low self-esteem and self-hatred. He hopes to inspire anyone who has been bullied to become empowered, by shedding the albatross of being a victim of bullying. Maintaining the belief that his bullies victimized him prevented Bill from loving himself. His story is powerful and poignant. Billy Versus The Bullies: My Journey From Victim To Victor depicts the importance and power of unconditional love, which must begin within oneself. It took Bill fifteen years to gain the courage to tell his story authentically and candidly. He is grateful to have finally made the transition from victim to victor. Bill believes that everyone has the right to live his or her truth, and that no one should deny anyone that freedom.
