The Civility Psalms: [contemporary poems encouraging a more civil discourse]

These are tumultous times. In the midst of all the chaos, confrontation and contentiousness, I sought out the Psalms for inspiration. From these, I crafted heartfelt odes to civility and kindness that I call the "Civility Psalms". Herein you will find those poems along with corresponding essays that describe the inspiration and thoughts that lead to their writing. Based upon the first 25 Psalms, these works stand alone as gentle reminders that love, cooperation, and understanding are yet viable options for our modern world. To that end, all proceeds from this book (and companion CD) go to "Brick by Brick for Tanzania!, Inc.", the tax-exempt 501c3 non-profit organization I founded, which builds preschools in Africa and sets by example a model of another way. In our schools, Muslim, Christian, and pagan boys and girls from various tribes all learn together. This model is the real-life paradigm of what the Civility Psalms are all about. - John D.
