Data Mining Fundamentals

Data mining is the computational process of discovering patterns in large data sets with the objective of extracting information and transforming it into an understandable structure for further use. Data mining involves data and database management, pre-processing techniques, model and inference considerations alongwith post-processing of uncovered structures, data visualization, and online updation. Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery in Databases are terms that are generally used interchangeably.
