Finally, he push "play". From the little machine, they heard boots stomping. A door closed. "Thanks for bringing the food," said a girl's voice. "We can sit in the dining room to eat." "Jonathan!" gasped Cassy. "That's Stardust's voice!" Jonathan clicked off the recorder. "How could you know what her voice sounds like? Didn't you say you just heard her in your mind?" "All I know is, that's the voice!" "Then Stardust was here. Cassy, she was in this house!" Jonathan jumped to his feet. "She'll be easy to find! Search the house, Cass." Cassy stood and walked to the window. She leaned forward and just stood there a moment. Then she groaned. "We can't," she gasped. "Why?" Jonathan bolted to her side. She pointed. Jonathan couldn't speak. He just grabbed her arm and slumped in front of the window. He pulled her down beside him. He eased the curtain slightly aside, and they both looked out. On a dark knoll, not far from the house, partially hidden in a thick clump of shadowy trees, stood the motionless silhouette of a tall man on horseback.
