Sister Samms and Sister Johnson - Vigilantes

Two church ladies, Sister Alberta Samms and Sister Luetta Johnson, live in a California suburb and want to rid their neighborhood of too many half way houses and too many men who practice deviant behavior. They zero in on pedophiles but they don't have much sympathy for wife beaters either. Samms and Johnson are widow women, who recruit an evangelist, a Peruvian nurse and a minister's wife, who join in the task of covertly helping to clean up Alberta and Luetta's neighborhood. With mother wit, uyrban English, an old blue Cadillac and several adventures, the band solves problems in unique ways to make the bad guys go away and make the neighborhood the safer place Samms and Johnson want it to be. From a wedding shower, to a cake baking session, from a trip to the beach on the coast, to a quick stop at a surfing beach on the bay, Sister Samms and Sister Johnson and their friends have one goal in mind, which the five handle as these issue have never been handled before. Sister Samms and Sister Johnson is as light as it is dark. History is learned, through stories they remember, hurt is experienced through those same memories, yet laughter is a mainstay throughout the novel. Samms and Johnson are funny but not cartoons - in the spirit of Agathie Christie's Miss Marpel, and Donald Bain's J. B. Fletcher, of Murder, She Wrote, Samms and Johnson, arent, but are detectives. They solve mysteries of sorts in a vigilante mode. The two widows break the law, but they do it in a loving "Christian" manner. Women sympathize with Samms and Johnson. Men put their fingers in their ears and have been known to squirm when being told about or after reading Sister Samms and Sister Johnson - Vigilantes.
