Harry Keaton lost his job a few months ago. He's fifty and has decided not to look for another. His girlfriend thinks he's crazy. He knows she won't be around much longer. It's okay. He's been through changes before. When he was twenty-two he got out of the Army and returned to Wisconsin and proceeded to fail miserably at resuming life in his hometown. He then rented a cottage for the summer on an out-of-the-way bay on the Door County peninsula. He met people there who seemed pretty content with very little and wanted to stay there with them, but he didn't. This is a story of identity and ambition and luck. It's a story about the life we think we want and the life we get. Or it's just a story about a clueless guy.
