My Friend the Zens: In the beginning

Zentangle is a new form of artwork, created by a calligrapher and a monk. The artwork is as simple as drawing one simple pattern after the next, and fitting them together. This artwork is typically done with a micron pen which is a very delicate tool used by many artists. All of the patterns have fun names, such as "Jetties" or "Bales", and there are now hundreds of patterns available through books and online. The art uses patterns found in nature that have been around for centuries, and are easy to recreate.
