After chemo and a bone marrow transplant, she's now five years cancer free! As Maddie shared with us once, she "kicked leukemia right in the tail!" It's individuals and stories like Maddie and my sister Michelle that remind us we cannot wait for a cure. We have to do something now to find a cure. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society has invested nearly $1 Billion in research aimed at helping all blood cancer patients live better, longer lives. LLS will continue to support research and make a huge impact through their innovative and integrated funding programs, until every patient has a safe and effective therapy. Between 2000 and 2012, 28 of 67 cancer drugs newly approved by the FDA were developed first for blood cancer patients. LLS helped advance many of them. Last year alone, LLS supported research with a disbursement of $76 Million and also funded advocacy for lifesaving treatments as well as critically needed patient support services.
