The Thespian's Demise

The accidental onstage murder of young superstar Ian Flaherty at Chicago's immaculate Prestige Theatre stuns the world, and although the police appear to have the crime solved, only one man knows how it really happened. That man is Jacob George Miller, a young, lonely, bestselling author that only attended the play in the hopes of conceiving an idea for a second novel. But after witnessing the tragedy, Jake's heart, mind, and soul are shell-shocked, his passions become confused, and his life turns on a dime. Determined to prove the guilt of the one he believes is responsible and to uncover his own life's calling, Jake commences a vendetta that leads him into an acquaintance with a mysterious, renowned playwright, a lethal love triangle, and a standoff with a formidable crime lord that inflicts terror from the West Coast to the Windy City. But overshadowing everything is an invention-the greatest in human history-that has a sinister surprise in store for Jake and redefines life as we know it. A novel of honesty and deceit, of love and betrayal, of innocent good and insidious evil, The Thespian's Demise is the second book by Evan Stalter.
