In this story about "better late than never," Brent Siegle an established sports columnist covering professional football, and recently retired Hall of Fame quarterback Burt Russell, continue their friendship off the gridiron and onto the golf course. Burt entertains the idea of pursuing a second career as a professional golfer. Brent, therefore, decides to write the adventure novel he has waited all his life to write. They decide to take golf lessons together to learn the game of golf, and find they are hooked on the game that so many of use love. Along the way, these two bachelors find girlfriends and Brent finds love for the first time in his life.Suddenly, Burt changes his mind and accepts an offer to become a television game day football commentator. This action leaves Brent with a half-written novel, and the nickname, "ToTo," a wife and son, and no main character to complete his novel.
