Vern Halverson fondly remembers his furrowed days of living and working on a farm as a teenager and young adult. Like the main characters in the old television show, Green Acres, Vern was raised in the big city for the first 14 years of life, and then his parents bought a farm in Western Oregon. All the family members were city-slickers, of course, and knew nothing of the nuances of rural living.
