No Room At The Shallow End

Have you ever thought that you would never be free? I did. I thought I'd never be free of the anger, the pain and the uselessness that I felt. I thought I would never be free of events that literally shaped my thinking and drove my actions from day to day. I thought that if I really tried Christ, if I gave Him my whole heart and He failed me, I'd be doomed to a life of failure forever with no redemption possible. But God! So rich in mercy, so full of pure love and grace; He wouldn't let me settle for less than His best. Yes, it was a struggle. But He knew all along what I needed and He wouldn't allow me to rest in the notion that He could fail me or that I would keep failing myself. The struggle for freedom brought me to the deep end of life's pool and I have no desire to return to shallow waters.
