The year is 2708 and Janum, raised by monks on a poor planet, enters the galaxy's most elite university to pursue a career in cyberlogic. Together they visit Sahrot, the wealthy planet which M'Auna orbits. There, Janum discovers technologies being developed for mind control and advanced warfare. Alarming and complex signals emanating from two stars out toward the galactic rim are soon followed by the outbreak of war between the wealthy planets and poor worlds, propelling events toward an ominous future.
