SPEAKING OF ART came out of a series of essays written over the past two years involving many of the art works in the author's large collection of paintings and small sculptures. Li Clement, the gifted illustrator of this book, has provided pen and ink drawings of each selected piece that captures its essence with wry and sometimes comical touches of her own. Some of the art might be characterized as 'fine', some as 'folk', but the writer herself considers both categories as being of equal artistic value.
