This collection is like a "choose your own adventure book." You can choose to read just the left-hand pages. This will take you on a stroll through the meanderings of a young adult in a new long-distance relationship, in college and excited to step into the world of education. You can choose to read just the right-hand pages. This trip will provide a glimpse into the thoughts of a 36-year-old who married the guy who was the subject of many of the left-hand poems (he is left-handed, of course), who is a teacher and is anxious about stepping out of the world of education. The other way to read this collection is the traditional way, from page to page, left to right. What you will find is a conversation between the poems. On the left side will be a poem from the nineties and on the right side will be the 2012-13 response to it. It can be a direct reply to the ideas in the nineties' poem, or it can be a whisper inspired by a just a word, a phrase, a rhythm or a single concept. I hope eventually you choose all three adventures since I have had the privilege of living out all three. (I do promise that you will not meet an untimely demise at the hands of a ninja, pirate or wizard if you choose a particular path which is what happened to me any time I read a "choose your own adventure book").
