My Daughter the Witch

In a New York City deli on a cold rainy day, Jessica Johnson meets a handsome stranger when she goes to buy lunch. She falls instantly in love, but after a short whirlwind romance, and his unexplained departure, she discovers she's pregnant. Jessica knows nothing about him except his first name, Richard, and has no way of reaching him. She wonders who he is and where he went. Then as her due date approaches she loses her job. Destitute and alone she has no choice but to apply for welfare. After the baby's birth, Richard resurfaces and visits the hospital secretly while Jessica is asleep. He leaves her a letter offering her a home. Not knowing what else to do she takes him up on his offer, and finds herself in a rural community surrounded by witches and warlocks.
