This book is such an inspiration but more than that, it's a revelation. It's about a young girl becoming a woman. As I read this story I became more and more aware that this isn't just her story, it's every woman's story. Every one of us has experienced "our first time". We've all experienced heart break, we have all lost someone that we love and we have all thought that we were on the verge of breaking down and losing our minds.Shareen really had me thinking back on past relationships; the cheating, getting caught, the making up and breaking up. I could see myself and my friends in every situation and it brought back so many memories that I had long since forgotten. All of us have been at a point in our lives where we thought that no one has experienced this suffering but me and all of us have thought that no one could possibly understand my pain.I have felt alone, I've felt sad and angry and even resentment. But I've also felt elation and joy and immense pride and wonder. So as I read this book I couldn't help but to think back on my personal journey and cry or reminisce and smile. There were times when I couldn't utter a laugh because I was crying so hard and there were other times when I was laughing so hard that it became a cry.I realize that we all have a story and we all have a journey to make in order to tell that story and everyone's walk will be different but I'm sure that at some point in our lives we have asked God why. Why me? Why now? But we have never thought why not me! Why not choose me to put through this trial so that I can triumph victoriously on the other side of the road.See, not only is this story about trials and tribulations it's also about triumphs and transcendence.Sanity and happiness are an impossible combination! Mark Twain The General, speaking one felt with authority, always insisted that, if you bring off adequate preservation of your personal myth, nothing much else in life matters. It is not what happens to people that is significant, but what they think happens to them. Anthony Powell
