Travelling back and forth between 1801 and 2014, Charlotte becomes convinced that only she can solve the mystery of Hannah's disappearance. Dealing with the pain and guilt of her infidelity yet unwilling to give up Gabriel, Charlotte's entire existence is turned upside down by secrets in both worlds. It is only when Charlotte digs deep for the courage that she doubted existed is she able to choose in which world she truly belongs.
