This book contains excerpts from a collection of letters that were sent from a Marine (Edward J Rothery) to his fianc?e Karen from Khe Sanh Combat Base in Vietnam in early 1968. His letters were not honest. They were written in an effort to protect Karen from the extreme conditions and the horror that accompanies war. Reading these letters forty-five years after he had written them, Edward decided to tell his wife what was really happening to him and around him during the time he was there. With Karen's encouragement, he began documenting the events as honestly as his memory allowed. This book is raw in its account of what our young servicemen experienced in Vietnam and what they continue to experience while at war today protecting each of us.
