Why Too Many Rabbits Don't Make Good Pets

The biggest tragedy that befalls the cute little bunnies that kids want for Easter is that they are labor intensive and soon the bunnies turn into adults and aren't so cute. They explore the world with their front teeth that are very sharp, and they will gnaw on furniture and bite off wires to your computers and appliances. They love to dig and burrow, and will eat all of your grass, making your yard into a dirt lot. They reproduce "like rabbits", and a pair can become 100 rabbits within a year. Veterinary fees are steep for these creatures because they have at least a dozen illnesses that torture and kill them. Pet owners are heartbroken to see them suffer and can become broke from one serious bout of hospitalization and surgery. The emotional, physical, mental, relationship and financial problems are geometrically magnified with each additional mouth and personality bunny caretakers must deal with. My bunnies had an unexpected population explosion due to "accidental births", and I was stuck with raising 70 rabbits for 2 months until I could give some away. I was overwhelmed, and though I loved them all dearly, they were driving me crazy as I became their human slave.
