The purpose of religion is to teach one to see well enough in the dark to find one's way when one does not possess the means to illuminate it.
The purpose of science is to conceive the idea, investigate it, and test the knowledge attained. While both science and religion are tools for humanity to explore the darkness, they are little more than ways to lead one out of it. The questions remain: where is one going and why is one going there?
The purpose of education is to teach one how to think, not what to think or why to think it. The consequences for not thinking for yourself put you at the mercy of those who wish to think for you. It is your choice alone to be enslaved by ideology or to be free of it.
