Bugle Call is both a reminder and a challenge to anyone who cares about freedom and democracy. Our founders warned us if we did not acknowledge our tendency to want to control others and concentrate power we would recreate the oppressive approaches to governance of the past. Eternal vigilance is a demanding responsibility that must be passed down to each generation or the American Dream will evaporate. A passion for freedom is not the same as a desire for comfort. Change is uncomfortable and inevitable. We can work together to respond creatively or we can fragment and react destructively. The choice is ours. Bugle Call provides insights from many generations and practical tools. It offers a way to link people and resources in order to align and leverage them in the service of community goals. Our forebears called it barn raising. They understood interdependence and the responsibility of place.
