Transition is inevitable, seasons change, and ultimately we can either survive, struggle, get stuck, or Thrive! Yes. I said thrive. Let me say it another way. You can benefit, learn, grow, and be fully prepared for the next season by going through transition. The catch? How you go through the season of transition will determine if you survive or thrive. The Old Testament account of the Exodus is an amazing story of transition. In the New Testament book of 1 Corinthians, the Apostle Paul says this about their experience, "Now all these things happened to them as examples, and they were written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the ages have come." (1 Corinthians 10:11). Paul says that their experience was recorded for our benefit. The word, "Transition," may not be found in the Biblical text, but the experience itself is found throughout. The wilderness is a transition metaphor. Almost every major character in the Bible had some kind of experience in the wilderness. I'm not an expert on the subject of transition, but I am experienced. Sometimes that is more helpful than technical information. I have learned that transition is a teacher and a revealer. Every transition I have experienced has revealed something about myself and something about my understanding of God that I didn't know. The key is to learn the lessons and address the issues that are revealed. My thoughts and my own experiences regarding times in the wilderness, and the discovery over time that surviving is important, but thriving is possible, is the message I want to convey.
