"The Life of a Writer through the Eyes of His Son" is a novelistic memoir by a Jordanian teenager written about his father who was a well-established writer. The story tells a summer long of daily reflections about the teenager helping his father in his writings. His father has had numerous eye surgeries causing serious sight problems, which meant he was not able to type or write by himself without help. His youngest son, the teenager, decides to use his summer break to help his father in working on his newest book, and throughout their journey, the teenager discovers quite a lot about his father. He tries to use the time to strengthen the relationship given the fact that he had been away studying in a boarding school for three years. During that summer, they develop two interchangeable relationships: the father-son and the boss-employee.
