Nor' Easter

The story begins just as the winds of a Nor'Easter, the most dreaded storm of New England, are whipping up the Maine coast. Holley delights the senses, giving us permission to suspend our imaginations, as we telegraph messages through the roots of ancient trees, go "lobsterin' off the coast of Maine and listen to the lovely poem-song of a Native American princess. In the tradition of Roald Dahl we meet a very strange six foot rabbit named "Herbert" who morphs into a werewolf. Then Grandfather beetle, who comes from the beginning of time, discovers he has a hidden talent for jazz. Holley flies us to the top of Mt. Katahden, amusing us all the way. With breathtaking, often surreal detail, and masterful storytelling, the magic of this piece flows out to all of us. While young people will be fascinated, be assured ---this is not a simple childrens' story, it contains lessons in life, given to us as a gift.
