The Birthday Robot

Ryder Parker receives a late birthday gift from his grandmother, a robot named Mr. Bot! It's over two feet tall, has a silver digital touchpad that's activated by light and sound with four command modes. Mr. Bot has many funny adventures at the Parker household. One involves being trapped in Ryder's bedroom closet while a woodpecker pounds on the roof. This pecking and tapping makes the motion sensitive light come on over and over again. Another time, Ryder recreates an amazing event, exactly as it first happened, hoping for the same results. A manual included with the robot has a question and answer page. Are they true facts or simply jokes? One answer states that Mr. Bot loves to speed walk to steep places. It includes a warning that the robot should never visit the Grand Canyon or Niagara Falls! Can a robot walk in its sleep, wink, or burp? Ryder must discover the answers for himself. His sister, Molly, not only has a trick candle on her birthday cake, but receives a surprise that makes their entire family happy, including Mr. Bot!
