In this story, magic happens and dreams come true. A little girl makes a wish for the first time ever on Thanksgiving Day, with her mother using a magic wishbone. Two days later, new neighbors arrive at the ranchette next door and they own a pony with the marking of a wishbone on its forehead. The little girl, Hazel, is spellbound by the fact that the pony's name is Wishbone. She knows that this pony is meant for her, because this is indeed, exactly what she wished for. Another girl is jealous that Hazel may get the pony that she wished for and sets out to foil her dream, so that it does not come true. Hazel and her friends also find three orphaned raccoons and raise them on a bottle and have to figure out a way to reintegrate them back into the wild. This is a story of strong friendships and compassion for humans and animals alike.
