As many people have reflected, this book is a bit like a mirror. MacDonald, through the two young girls in this story, beautifully bears our hearts on these pages. The truth is that we cannot find the Kingdom of God within us (Luke 17:21) if we are unwilling to fight the dragons, traverse through the dark realms, and slay the poisonous beasts in our hearts that have aided in "nurturing" our dismal condition.
