The Flight of the Bumblebee transpired from memories of 1950's rural Walnut Creek. The Pigeon Drop, Susan's Superhero, and Sam Ting's each unfold in San Francisco. While many of the settings are recognizable, most of the characters are fictional. Patrick O'Toole was a real person who lived in San Francisco. The story portrayed in The Little Fox recounts what might have happened had he lived on after a vicious mugging on Battery Street in 1964.
